Donations Sought for Fund Honoring Slain Dental Student

Mina Rosenthal-Eames

Mina Rosenthal-Eames

Had she lived, Mina Rosenthal-Eames would have become a dentist who treated her patients competently and compassionately. Because she died a victim of domestic violence Aug. 20, those patients will never know her touch.

But that’s not where her story ends. The students, faculty, staff and alumni who make up The University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston “family” have decided to honor her spirit by creating the Mina Rosenthal-Eames Patient Care Fund.  In time, the fund will help provide dental care at the Dental Branch for women and children whose lives have been marred by domestic violence.

Rosenthal-Eames, 31, was a second-year dental student and mother of two school-aged children.

“To find an appropriate way to remember Mina, we have been in consultation with her family and those at the Dental Branch who knew her best,” said UT Dental Branch Dean Catherine M. Flaitz, D.D.S. “We all believe the best way to honor her memory is to find a way to deliver at least some of the compassionate care she would have pro-vided in her career.”

For information about donations, call the UT Dental Branch Development Office at 713-500-4386. Make checks out to University of Texas Health Science Center with a memo note of Mina Rosenthal-Eames Patient Care Fund.  Send checks to: Office of Development, The University of Texas Dental Branch, 6516 M.D. Anderson Blvd., #147, Houston, TX 77030.

Donations via credit card (MasterCard, Visa or Discover) may be made by calling 713-500-3224. All donations are tax-deductible.
