Racers Stampede for Scholarships

Jimmy Trevino, 10, is on his way to a third-place finish in the male 19 and under group at the April 28 Lone Star Stampede. With 200 runners and additional donations, the event raised $8,000 for the Texas Exes Houston Chapter Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships for Houston-area high school students who will attend UT Austin.
A sanctioned race with a certified 5k course, the race began and ended in front of the UT School of Nursing and Student Community Center building. The event included the Eeyore’s Children’s Run, family entertainment and a health fair.
